On-Boarding Tasks

At this point, you should have reviewed the quick-start part of the handbook. Now the priority shifts towards learning by doing. This section of the handbook provides a number of tasks to build out your own set of astrodynamics and ML tools that will eventually be used for some of your research.

Before proceeding, you are encouraged to download the following tools and set up different accounts.

Software

  • Download VS Code
  • Install VS Code Extensions
    • LaTeX-Workshop
    • Python
    • Black Formatter
    • Code Spell Checker
    • Remote - SSH
    • Dev Containers
    • Ruff
    • Markdown All in One
    • Git Graph
  • Install LaTeXiT
  • Install InkScape
  • Download a Note Taking Software (Obsidian, LogSeq, EverNote)

GitHub

  • Make a GitHub account if you have not already
  • Get GitHub Pro via your educational affiliation
  • Link the GitHub account to the MLDS lab organization

Lab Logistics

  • Get card access to the lab
  • Change your residency to Maryland (License, Voter Registration, etc)

Literature Review

  • Create a Mendeley Account
  • Share a custom Mendeley Library with Me
  • Join Lab Mendeley
